Social injustice, major cause of Nigeria’s problems – Buhari's former aide
Says the power of incumbency is inconsequential in Kano

A former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Hon. Abdurahman Kawu Sumaila, on Sunday in Kano, said the numerous challenges and various agitations across the country, can be blamed on abuse of social justice by the country's leaders.
Hon. Kawu sumaila who is the Kano South Senatorial District candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) said this during a Kano Correspondents Chapel Dialogue Series held in Kano.
That "is why I strongly support the formation of the State Police as another means of tackling the problems, which means states would now have people of thrust that would curb the menace,” the three-term House of Representatives Member said.
He noted that the failure of government to ensure social justice and equitable distribution of resources has resulted in insurgency and other criminal atrocities that now effect all the geo-political zones of the federation.
According to him, it is no longer news that "Nigerians are no longer safe on the roads, in their homes, farms and even at hospitals, saying this called for policy makers to review their mode and style of leadership for Nigeria to prosper.
Emphasising social justice, Kawu said most of the agitations and crises bedeviling the country are as a result of marginalisation and lack of social justice
"If you promote social justice through legislation there will be no need to distribute pump-action machines to farmers.
"You will agree with me that in Nigeria of today it is not roads or buildings they require from Government, rather they want to see equitable distribution of their resources and the correction of the lack of social justice that plunges them into criminality. I assure you that this would be corrected if I become senator come 2023.”
He continued: "My take on legislative agenda is to have social justice because it leads to equitable distribution of resources, which invariably reduces crisis because exclusion leads to crisis.
“I will ensure social justice in three areas: education, health and water resources.
Hon. Kawu Sumaila that the ncrises in the Southeast also needs urgent new approach by government; that of sitting with the Agitators at a roundtable to discuss in an open manner what are their problems and needs.
He said with proper legislation and implementation, the regular campaign promises for empowerment will no longer be necessary because there will be equitable distribution of resources for all to benefit.
Speaking on his chances as a Senatorial candidate in the 2023 election, he said: "In Kano, the power of incumbency is inconsequential… As far as Kawu Sumaila is concerned, as far as our gubernatorial candidate, Abba Yusuf is concerned, as far as our Grand Commander and presidential candidate, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is concerned, Kabiru Gaya and other APC candidates are inconsequential."
