Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of Labour party in next year's Nigerian elections, has said that the future of the partnership which has existed between the United Kingdom and Nigeria looks promising.

He made this statement on Wednesday in his congratulatory message to Rt.Hon. Liz Truss on her emergence as the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. According to him, Truss' victory in a keenly contested electoral process is a testament to the strength and resiliency of a true democracy.

Obi's message, conveyed through his verified Twitter handle, @PeterObi, reads in part:

"The United Kingdom has remained a great ally to Nigeria over the years, and the mutual benefits that can accrue to both countries through more formidable partnerships in the future look promising.

"I am confident that she will draw on her invaluable experience from her former position as the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs to sustain UK's democratic ideals and above all, advocate for a better world, where people's talents will match their opportunities in life. -PO"
