Kidnapped Benue Catholic priest regains freedom

Rev. Fr. Peter Amodu, the priest of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, Benue State, who was abducted on Tuesday, July 5, has been released.
"Praise the Lord! Our brother, Fr Peter Amodu, has been released!" a jubilant colleague wrote in a message annoucing the release of the abducted priest.
Details about the circumstances of his freedom are not yet available. A N30million ransom was placed on his head by his abductors but it is not clear yet whether ransom was paid before he was released.
Father Amodu, a Priest of the Holy Ghost Congregation, is the priest of Holy Ghost Parish, Eke-Elengbecho, in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State..
He was abducted on July 5, 2022 about 5.00 pm along Otukpo -Ugbokolo Road while he was on his way to celebrate the Holy Mass at Okwungaga-Ugbokolo.
