Dr Iorchia Ayu

By Solomon Onyilo

A Benue State High Court, sitting in Makurdi, has restrained  Dr. Iorchia Ayu from parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until the determination of a suit filed against him.
This is coming barely 24 hours after his suspension by some executives of his Iyorov Council Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue state.

The presiding judge, Justice W.I. Kpochi gave the interim order on Monday in suit No. MHC/85/2023 filed at the court by Engr Conrad Terhide Utaan with Ayu and the PDP as defendants.

Some PDP officials in Ayu’s ward had announced the suspension of the National Chairman over alleged anti-party activities and nonpayment of membership dues.

According to the officials, Ayu worked against the victory of the PDP in the governorship contest of the state.

Ayu has been in a supremacy war with some Governors of the party led by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Other governors feuding with Ayu include his home state Governor, Samuel Ortom, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwanyi and the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

The case has been adjourned until April 17 for further hearing.
