The All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled Kano State Government has said that opposition political parties have the right to use public property for the conduct of their campaign rallies.

The state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs and Spokesperson, Gawuna/Garo Campaign Council, Comrade  Muhammad Garba, who made this declaration on Monday said all political parties were free to organise their campaign rallies at public property.

Many state governments, in their desperate move to frustrate opposition parties deny them access to public property on flimsy excuseses. But the commissioner said that, in Kano, opposition parties have been offered unrestricted access to the facilities such as the stadium, provided they obtain clearance from security agencies on their safety.

According  to him,the state Government remains consistent in its policy of giving equal right as a mark of its respect for democratic ideals.

He urged the political parties to always ensure proper use of the facilities and guard against damages.

He also expressed the hope that the parties would conduct their campaign rallies peacefully.
