BREAKING: Resolve the injustice meted out to my friend Wike - Gov. Ortom tells PDP
Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue state

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that he decided to take position with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in the current crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because he wants to be on the side of justice.

Ortom who was speaking at the State Expanded Caucus meeting of the party in Government House, Makurdi, on Monday, said the PDP's current crisis  has its roots in injustice over issues that arose before, during and after the party's National Convention in late May.

According to him, the national leadership of the party failed to deploy its conflict resolution mechanism to resolve the issues until positions became hardened.

He said: "When things are not right, I don't hide my feelings, I say them, that they are not right. The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Don't lie and don't deceive.

"So, the issue is very clear. I have made my position known even in this hall before, that the management of the National Convention of our party that culminated into the emergence of grievances and the post management of the crisis that arose was not properly carried out. The leadership of the party was not able to deploy its internal crisis resolution management skills to solve the problems that arose.

"Injustice has been meted out to my friend Wike and the leadership of the party should do the needful to solve that problem because, in election, one vote can make you lose. So, let them continue to dismiss people, that they are not relevant; but on the day of election, everybody is relevant; everybody will be at his polling booth. I won't be there with you and you won't be there with me. So, everybody is important."
